VIDEOS: Football, Etc., yntl, and Dividers

Thanks to everyone who came along to the Football, etc. show the other week. It was a whole lots of fun! Especially seeing people out who I've never seen at shows before! All the bands were awesome, the vibes were awesome, and all in all it was a great night. So a big thank you to all involved!

Camera Wizard and good guy Michael Suess was also at the show, and he filmed it and uploaded some videos to his site: http://suessmichael.de/

Here's a video of Football, etc., to see the rest of the videos, go on his site! And watch some other videos while you're over there!

SHOWS: Football, Etc.

So it's been a while since the last show we put on, but hopefully this'll make up for that. The amazing Football, etc are coming to town on January 4th, 2012 to play Mozarts, Swansea.

Football, Etc are a great melancholy indiemo band hailing from Housten, TX and feature members of the late (and great) Tin Kitchen. They released possibly one of my favourite records of this year, and I literally have no idea what else I can say about them, other than if you like Jejune, Mineral and The Promise Ring, you'll be all over this band. They RULE!

You can check out everything they've recorded here! I strongly recommend their full length "The Draft", and their split with Empire! Empire! (I Was A Lonely Estate)

Official Website

your neighbour the lair are coming along for the ride too, and are possibly one of the UK's current great emo exports, hailing from Edinburgh, Scotland. Twinkly emo ala Promise Ring, Joie de Vivre... etc. You dig? Check out their self titled 7" and you'll know exactly what I'm talking about.

Official Website

Also playing their/our first Swansea show in 6 months is Dividers. Shouty Punk for fans of bands that don't do eye contact and play side on.

Official Website

Opening up the show and making a welcome return to Mozarts is Cardiff City's best kept secret, Pipedream. Awesome pop punk with a 90's indiemo tinge, for fans of Mock Orange and Jawbreaker. If all goes to plan they SHOULD have their brand new "Shell" EP with them, too. Exciting!

Official Website

All this for just £4. There'll be a facebook event page, and a poster up very soon, but for now mark your diaries and get pumped!

TAPES: Dividers - Demo Tapes (3rd and FINAL press)

So a few people have asked, so we delivered. The third and final pressing of the Dividers Demo Tape. This time around it'll be on yellow cassette, with three alternative covers.

Dividers are a punk band from Swansea, UK. This tape features 3 of the first recordings we ever did with Corbin Parsons at the BBC studios in Swansea. All he asked for was a Sausage Roll. Trevor Cavell once said that we sound like "Get Bent, Potboiler and Lawrence Arms all making a big mess over someone from Lattermans chest", so I guess we'll go with that.

Tracklisting:
1. The Fuck You Don't Do Wet Wipes
2.Reckless Is My Middle Name
3. If Monday Morning Was A Person

VIDEOS: Dividers - The Fuck You Don't Do Wet Wipes

About a year and a half ago, Dividers played their first and only ever acoustic show at Mozarts, Swansea with PJ Bond, and Adam Peachfuzz. Despite probably posting this everywhere on the internet, I've actually not posted it here on WWSBD, so here it is! Hopefully this'll tie you over while Zach transfers some of the footage he shot of bands while we were on tour last month...

SHOWS: Iron Chic - Venue Change!

Unfortunately due to circumstances totally out of our control, we’ve had to move this from the Skatepark to Monkey, we’re as bummed as you are that we don’t get to have a sweet gig in the park and we’ll be playing ‘I wanna go skateboarding’ by Ssssnakes on repeat in between bands, but we just can’t do it.

However, the good new is:

1. We were 12 tickets off selling out before, Monkey is way bigger and you’ll be able to pay on the night now. It’ll be £6 on the door, but there are still £5 tickets available from Diverse Records in Newport, Exist Skateboards in Swansea, Derricks in Swansea, Gav or Zach Dividers, or the SWFU Online shop, if you wanna save yourself a quid:
http://swfu.bigcartel.com/product/iron-chic-banger-+-more-tickets

2. It was looking incredibly likely that the Skatepark would’ve been a dry venue. That’s right, NO BOOZE! So I’m sure lots of you will be happy to know that you’re more than welcome to get hammered at Monkey. Mine’s a Hoegaarden.*

We’ll be putting posters up at the Skatepark directing people to Monkey, but if you could report the event and let people know of the venue change that’d be awesome.

See you wednesday!

Trev

New venue address:
Monkey Cafe
13-14 Castle Street
Swansea
SA1 1JF
01792 480 822

It’s a little closer to the train station than the Skatepark and easy to get to from town. If you have any worries or any questions drop me a quick email and I’ll do my best to get back to you real quick - trevorcavell@gmail.com

*This was all written by Trev, mines a double vodka and lemonade. Peace out! x

SHOWS: Dividers / Ten Speed Bicycle Split release shows...

So here's the scoop. There is going to be not one but TWO release shows for the split release between Dividers and Ten Speed Bicycle. The official release show will be at The Fighting Cocks in Kingston on 31st March, courtesy of Steve Townsend who is a strong contender for being the BEST dude in the United Kingdom for sure! Also playing are Manchester emo party starters Well Wisher, and Kents Loose Cannons. Doors open at 7:30 and entry is a mere 5 uk pounds. Check out the super cool poster to the left of this paragraph, painted by our good friend Archie Fitzgerald. Cool!

Then a day later on 1st April the Swansea Release Show is going down at Mozarts, in Swansea. It's exactly the same line up, but the order of the bands will be determined randomly with the pulling of straws. Check out the poster designed by Dividers very own Zach Williams to the right of this paragraph. It's based on the song title "May He Who Is Without Shit Star Wars Tattoos Cast The First Stone", and wasn't intended to rip off the Spraynard shirts... oops!

DOWNLOADS: Dividers / Ten Speed Bicycle Split

So we got bored of sitting on the tracks for this split, and put them up for FREE DOWNLOAD! YEAH! Instead of sounding like a parrot and typing the SAME descriptions as I have for Dividers and Ten Speed Bicycle in the past on this site, I asked some friends to do it for me. Only Sean from Well Wisher actually responded (my friends SUCK). He said...

"dividers = pop-punk done the ifyoumakeit way with flashes of late-90s midwestmo and that chicago/lawrence arms sound. ten speed = frantic and youthful edgemo that blends braid, cap'n jazz, lifetime and latterman and manages to make it sound totally fresh and exciting"

Job done. Cheers Sean! The tape will be out very soon, but for now, feel free to spread this mediafire link about til it gets lost in the mist of the internets...

SHOWS: Iron Chic, Dave House, Bangers, Dividers

Incase you didn't know because you're not a forum pro like I, Iron Chic are playing Swansea on May 11th. We're Co-"promoting" it with Swansea Collective at a Venue TBC, but it's likely to be at the skatepark which is due to open in April. If not, it's probably highly likely it'll be in Mozarts or something. It should be a killer show, Iron Chic released possibly my favourite record of 2010, so I'm totally excited that 1. they're playing Swansea 2. I'm part of putting on the show and 3. My band are playing. Here's what Trev had to say on the matter, because I can't be fucked to write up band bios myself...

Iron Chic
"Iron Chic are a decent band from Long Island New York" I think the new record cropped up in pretty much everyones Top 10 of 2010, this is their first time over to the UK, and it's gonna be fucking killer! Ex members of Latterman and Get Bent!
http://ironchic.bandcamp.com/

Dave House
Ex and current member of Clingfilm, Pacer, The Steal, Lucky Thirteen & The Final Five. One of the best dudes ever! Rare solo show after years of me bugging him!
http://www.facebook.com/iknowdavehouse

Bangers
NEW ALBUM should be out in time for this, three of the best guys you've ever met, it's been too long since they've played Swansea!
http://bangersbangers.bandcamp.com/

Dividers
Some people say they lack originality, I say GET BENT!
http://dividers.bandcamp.com/

Poster coming soon!

Tickets will be 4 or 5 pounds and they'll be available from Exist Skateboards, Swansea and the SWFU shop once we get them printed!:
http://swfu.bigcartel.com

The door price will be MORE, so don't be a sucker!

Tickets will also be available from us!

Speaking of Dividers, you can now hear a song from the forthcoming split with Ten Speed Bicycle via our blog

VIDEOS: Dividers - Powering Through With The No Sleep Crew

Wow, I've gotten Slack as hell at this blog. But alas, here's an update! Here we have a video of my band playing "Powering Through With The No Sleep Crew" at our friends Luc and Corbin's Christmas House Party. It was a lot of fun! This song will be on our split with our good friends in Ten Speed Bicycle which should be out early next year!

NEWS: Dividers / Ten Speed Bicycle split!

We're pleased to announce that we'll be releasing a split between Dividers and Ten Speed Bicycle. Ten Speed Bicycle come from London and play Emo-esque pop punk ala Snowing, Latterman and stuff like that. They're probably one of the best bands I've heard this year, so needless to say I'm excited to be working with them! You can hear two songs from their home recorded demo on their myspace page, for a taster of what to expect! Dividers are from Swansea, and uh, you know the score. We basically play Melodic Pop Punk songs ala Get Bent and Jawbreaker. More news will be posted when more shit gets sorted.

NEWS: Punktastic Review Dividers Demo Tape!

Totally forgot to post about this. Punktastic.com gave the Dividers Demo Tape a pretty ace review. You can read it here!

We (Dividers) have been pretty inactive for the past few months, as Gaz is now living in Liverpool getting educated, but we've got a few shows lined up regardless. You can check them out on our blog.

TAPES: Spraynard Tape Available Soon!

So the Spraynard tapes are all dubbed and ready to go. Dubbing tapes is a really tedoius process, but luckilly for Spraynard their songs aren't, which made the whole procedure a lot easier!

They'll be available as soon as the badges arrive, which should hopefully be later on this week. Only 50 of these have been pressed, so don't sit on this.

In other tape related news, we only have TWO copies of the Dividers demo tape available. If you really want one, I suggest you pick one up pretty quick.

SHOWS: Good Luck

Good Luck is a punk/pop-punk band from Bloomington, Indiana USA. They feature past members of Matty Pop Chart, One Reason, K-10 Prospect, Abe Froman, Mt. Gigantic, Bodyhammer, and Los Gatos Negros. To say they sound like Lemuria would be lazy, and wrong too as they sound nothing like them. Infact the only thing they have in common with Lemuria is that they have a female singer. In other words, fuck the Lemuria comparisons I've seen the band getting on the interweb!

They formed in 2007, and in 2008 brought out the fantastic record "Into Lake Griffy" on the notorious No Idea Records. They have just uploaded a new demo onto the internet, which you can download by clicking here. It is great!
Good luck bring their infecious pop melodies to Bar Sigma in Swansea on August 4th, 2010. Support comes from Bangers, ONSIND, Ssssnakes and Dividers. £4 in. Get Psyched!
